Nikon Coolpix L840 Firmware – The Nikon COOLPIX L840 is a super-zoom using a 38x optical zoom lens along with a 16 Megapixel CMOS detector. Though Nikon markets the L840 for a bridge camera that is made to be a middle ground in performance and command involving a compact camera along with a DSLR, that is somewhat extending the genre. The L840 may endure a passing visual similarity to a DSLR, but that is where the similarities end. But this will make it much simpler to work with than you may anticipate. Not only is that the control design nearly identical to a standard point and shoot compact camera; the Nikon Coolpix L840’s chunky shape also adds to its simplicity of use.

The most noticeable new addition to the L840 is its own 38x optical zoom lens. Aside from incorporating Wi-Fi connectivity using NFC pairing for simple picture sharing and remote camera control, the L840 is much the same as the incoming L830. Overall picture quality isn’t a substantial advantage of this Coolpix L840 since its light 1/2.3-inch image detector restricts its capability to make top quality photos. My tests revealed the L840 does not create poor photographs, but its small image sensor does not allow for high-quality large prints on a continuous basis. However, the Vibration Reduction feature works nicely on this model to stop camera shake.

How To Check Camera Firmware Version
- Turn on your camera.
- Press the MENU button of your camera and select Firmware version in SETUP MENU to display the firmware version on your camera.
- Check the firmware version of your camera.
- Turn off your camera.

- Create a folder on the computer hard disk and name it as desired.
- Download File Format.exe into the folder created in Step 1.
- Run File Format.exe to extract the Next file into a folder Called “Coolpix L840 Update“: (name file.Bin) (the camera firmware)
- Using the card slot or card reader, then copy “name file.Bin” into memory card that’s been formatted in the camera.
(Note: make sure to copy the firmware into the origin (top-most) directory of the memory card. The camera won’t understand the new firmware if it’s set in a folder below the main index.) - Insert the memory card into the camera and then turn the camera.
- Select the Firmware version from the SETUP MENU and follow the Onscreen instructions to complete the Firmware Upgrade.
- After the upgrade is finished, turn off the camera and remove the memory card
